RACE CANCELLATION
Battle in the Bay
triathlon set to occur April 5th will be canceled. Due to last minute
increases in the cost estimates from the San Francisco Police Department
and the Treasure Island Planning Commission, our club stood to loose
nearly $25,000 from hosting the race this weekend. We could not, in good
faith, risk the solvency of the team to host a race that has received
lackluster attendance from conference schools, ours included. We greatly
regret having to make such a decision after the countless efforts from our
race coordinators, volunteers, and sponsors to execute what would have
been a truly excellent triathlon. We also deeply apologize to WCCTC
schools and BITB racers who have been training so hard and have been
looking forward to this weekend.
We will be offering full refunds for all participants through Active.com or the University. Please be on the lookout for an email from the race director within the next couple days.
Again we offer our apologies to everyone who was excited about this
weekends race. Canceling the race under these circumstances is a decision
we wish we never had to make. Feel free to
contact the race director Christi Leong at battleinthebay@gmail.com or club
president Steve Sexton ssexton@berkley.edu with any additional concerns or
questions regarding WCCTC championships.
Have fun training and good luck to all schools at Nationals and all triathlons in this coming season.
